Tour packing with 24 hours to go

In just over 24 hours I’ll be setting off on my cycle tour in to Wales and back. I’ve been planning it on and off since I first had the idea in November last year. Since then I’ve researched my routes, refined them, researched and booked accomodation and evening meals, I’ve tested my rack and panniers, upgraded my bike, worked on my fitness and last weekend I did a test pack of my kit.

All good.

This is a first for me so I’m going to be blogging the ride and as a few of my friends and colleagues have indicated an interest, I thought I’d start here and share my kit list for the 5 days.

My kit consists of spares, cycling kit and clothes to wear in the evenings.

Cycling Kit

  • 3 x jersey
  • 3 x base layer
  • 3 x bib shorts
  • 3 x socks
  • knee warmers
  • leg warmers
  • arm warmers
  • gillet
  • rain cape
  • jacket
  • gloves

I’m visiting my parents on Day 4 where all my kit will be washed and dryed so no need to carry kit for all 6 days.

Clothes

  • Trainers
  • Trousers
  • T-shirt
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Fleece
  • Jacket

Spares

  • 2 x tube
  • tyre levers
  • pump
  • CO2 + inflater
  • multitool
  • puncture repair kit

Other stuff

  • Chargers & Cables
  • Tablet & Keyboard
  • Toiletries
  • Birthday Card (Its my Dads birthday on Thursday!)
  • Wallet, money, cards
  • Mobile Phone

All of this will be fitted into my two 36 litre Altura panniers and a dry-bag which I will secured to the top of the rack with a bungee cord.

My routes are loaded onto my Garmin but I have the OS Maps app with the routes on as a back up and if I need to go direct I have sat nav on my phone. Probably overkill but I’m covered.

Just got to clean the bike and I’ve decided to remove my mudguards as the weather looks ok for the week

I’ll be here on Day 2
