I’ve just completed Day 1 of Week 4 of my Couch to 5K plan. I’ve gone from sore shins after a minute of running in the first week to comfortably completing 3 and 5 min blocks this week.
Running the first interval after a walking warm up is always the hardest and a 5 min block seemed quite a jump from 3 min blocks last week but in the second half of the session I was warmed up and running nicely.
My technique is improving, not so much flat footing now and if I make it to this weekend I get the 4 week reward I promised myself, a new pair of running shoes.
I’ve decided to get my gait analysis done at my local(ish) running shop and get the correct shoes to avoid any injuries. I hope this will give me the mental boost to push on and see the plan through to the end after 9 weeks.
My plan focuses on time rather than distance. By the end I’ll be running 30 mins non-stop which should be enough to bang out 5K. I’m using an app called Just Run which is really simple and easy to use with audio cues at each interval start & finish
