Full Power

For me, today marked the final phase of my recovery from my back injury. Over the last few weeks I’ve set myself some small, achievable targets to convince myself I’m getting stronger and making progress back to where I was last year. Things like just riding my bike, riding my bike offroad this week and being able to knock out 100 situps. Thankfully I’ve achieved them all in conjunction with now only having to see my chiropractor monthly rather than twice a week. Its been a bit of a journey. Only weeks ago I was hobbling around with a walking stick looking like a pringle but today was my first turbo session at my old power which, in simple terms, means I’m officially back to full fitness. I ride, I get off the bike and I’m straight! Whoop whoop!

MyWhoosh v4.0 has a new look. I like it.

The stretching and core work has really paid off. Last weekend Sally and I spent a night in Cardiff and although quite a small, compact city we must have walked miles. Old me would have struggled with a tight back after all those steps but no issues, no twinges just some sore feet!

Just in time too. It’s only 10 days to the first Gravelton event of the year, The Spring Fling which I’m really looking forward to now. I can also start to plan my annual cycling week away somewhere too.

Darts

In other news, my competitive darts season has started with my new team. Our first league match last week saw us take on a team that won the Winter league outright and have joined our Summer league but must start in Div 3 with us. Littered with county-level players we expected a hiding and were soundly beaten 9-0. However, I did take a leg in my singles match and had a match dart but missed a D8 to win. I took that as a positive start.

Then this week we played a local pub team. I won my singles match 2-0 which got us off to a great start but we ended up losing the match 6-3. Plenty of positives again in there though.

Next week we’ve been drawn the 2nd team in the league for a cup match. We expect an early exit and a pasting in that one too. Great experience though and good to play players of a higher standard. So far I’m really enjoying it.
