If I said Rollerboys, you might think I have a fetish for male strippers on rollerskates but sorry to disappoint. What I’m on about, and is far more boring than strippers, are replacements for my jockey wheels.

Back in my cycle shop days I used to stock and sell a shitload of BBB Cycling branded clothing, accessories and components. I just loved the stuff. Decent kit, at a decent price and the BBB stand I had in the shop was epic.

I was cleaning my Gravel bike last week and noticed my GRX jockey wheels were looking a bit ‘sharp’ aka worn so I decided to replace them which immediately took me back to the BBB Rollerboys I used to sell. So I decided to seek them out again and see if they offered any GRX replacements and hey presto! there they were, product number BDP-08
…and straight into my basket they went for a swift purchase.

Fast foward to this week and fitting them was as straightforward as any jockey wheel. Just remove each allen-key spindle/bolt one by one, replace the appropriate pulley wheel making sure they’re the right way around, refit and tighten up the bolt again and away you go. I think they are better than the Shimano GRX originals. Just a bit stiffer and a better bushing makes for a slightly better gear change.
Time will tell whether they last but it’s nice to be reunited with some BBB again!
Adios
