The wind was blowing an absolute hooley yesterday. The sort where you have to lean sidewards into it or try hard to just ride downhill so I decided to keep things local instead of venturing further afield.
I rode around the edge of town and cycled down to a couple of hotels situated in the Coralejo dunes just outside town. The main road was busy with parked cars and vans and in the distance you could see them all, kitesurfers, making the most of the conditions. I’ve always wondered how they never get tangled up when they’re all flitting around backwards and forwards in the surf. Unless there is some kind of order to it, I’m not aware of. Would have been hardwork in that wind though.
I rode down to the dunes edge next to the hotels and took a pic and then turned around for the grind back into Corralejo. 20mph+ out gave way to a 9mph+ test of my will until I got out of the wind behind the first hotel, a purported nudey one. No bits flapping around here despite a good look 😉

I headed to the main street for a bit of cover and decided to do a few efforts up a short kicker side street by riding around and doing a few laps.

This killed a bit of time and then I headed up back up to the top of town where the entrance to the volcano road is. A grid of roads here is slowly having some nice private residences built. You can do laps but the wind was ridiculous as I was up so high, so I did one effort and then picked up an offroad trail I’d never done before which ran parallel to the main road and rejoined the coast road.
Just over an hour in the bag but felt like more

It’s rare that a photo conveys the wind but your header image of the palm trees really makes it clear!
Same again today, so day off. Fixed my extra paragraph at the end too 🫣
