Any rider that intends to join me on any Gravelton Event ride agrees to adhere to my Code of Conduct. It’s a simple, common-sense approach to riding you will no doubt already recognise and hopefully abide by.
For the few that don’t or won’t you are not welcome on my rides. There are no excuses.
These are your 10 Commandments:
- Park considerately.
Always park correctly, legally and responsibly in respect of others. Make sure you pay and display where applicable. Share rides to events where possible. Parking and riding in to the start is a good idea if events are expected to be busy or parking space is restricted. - Leave no trace.
Take all your litter home. Never discard anything unless you are putting it in a designated bin. - Be Nice.
Share all your trails with care and show respect for other users. When approaching other trail users, always slow down, alert them in good time, continue to alert them until they acknowledge or see you and pass wide and safely. A bell is highly recommended. - Shut gates.
If you open a gate, you or a member of your group bears the responsibility to close it regardless of who is behind. - Adhere to temporary signage.
Occasionally you may get redirected. Always follow the diversion or find one if signage prevents you continuing on the official route. There is always another way around, it’s for your own safety and the safety of others - Give animals space and ride past them slowly.
Especially around their young. Animals can be unpredictable and dangerous if spooked. - Follow existing lines on trails.
Don’t deviate and add to trail erosion unless you absolutely have to for safety reasons. - Trails are NOT racetracks.
Riding fast is fine, racing your mates or KOM hunting on Gravelton Events isn’t. Ride faster only when you have a long, clear view ahead and it’s safe to do so. Trail surfaces can be unpredictable and dangerous at speed. - Be self-sufficient.
It is your responsibility to wear appropriate clothing and carry enough spares, food and water for the duration of the ride. Make sure you have the route, your phone and basic mechanical skills to hand. Don’t rely on others to bail you out. - Have fun.
It’s the law!
Ride safely, use your common-sense, don’t be a dick!
