INTRO
This is the fourth event in my Gravelton series. This one is a classic UK gravel ride out to the spectacular Wyre Forest and back using a mix of trails, bridleways and some really good canal towpath to get riders through Kidderminster and Bewdley and into the forest.
The Wyre Forest is a great place to ride a gravel bike so it’s absolutely right we take a ride over there to enjoy it. With 60%+ of the route offroad and an ascent of Clent towards the end, riders will know they’ve ridden this 95km gravel test at the finish.
The Date
Saturday 26th August

The Swan at Fairfield, Fairfield Road, Fairfield, Bromsgrove B61 9NG.

The Route
The route starts in Fairfield and quickly goes offroad down through Pepper Wood and into Belbroughton via the Bradford Lane bridleway. Then it’s a more bridleways taking riders through Blakedown and out to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal for some good quality towpath through Cookley and Kidderminster to the outskirts of Stourport-on-Severn. Here riders cross the A451 and skirt Burlish Bike Park before heading into Bewdley and then climb into the Wyre Forest for a lengthy bimble around it’s fab fire roads. Once out at Button Oak, its down into the Severn Valley gorge to cross the river at Arley, a great place to stop for refreshments, then a short sharp climb back into Eyemore Woods and a chunky climb upto to Trimpley and a great byway back towards Wolverley where riders jump back on the canal. Off at Whittington, riders will get back onto the familiar trails around Hagley before a final ascent of Clent and then straight back to Fairfield for a well earned beer.
