Actually its 666g or 1.47 lbs in old money. I actually weighed it on scales.
It was staring me in the face for months. Such an easy but significant weight save on the bike. To be honest I needed it. Since Xmas I’ve fitted a pannier rack and ride with that on now as I prepare (slowly) for my cycle tour in May. I think I’ve pretty much saved the weight of it bar a few grams.
My commute is approx 40-45mins each way. Up and down the Lickey Hills twice a day, 3-4 times a week, so any weight saved is a bonus. 600g+ is a lottery win then right?
The icing on the top is it didn’t cost me a thing. Nothing. And I didn’t need any tools either.
So what did I do?

I took my water bottle off.
I realised I was cycling to and from work every day with a fresh water bottle and not using it. It was just a habit and part of the routine.
I commute every day now without a bottle. I don’t even notice it or does it have any effect on me
Sometimes the simplest hacks are right there in front of you.
Obviously for longer rides I have a bottle or more if needed but if its less than an hour ditch it and save the grams people!
Au Revoir!
